Electronic-Based Distributed Learning

Use EBDL for approved online coursework: ATRRS, JKO, ALMS. Credit is awarded in 8-hour increments — one ATA equals one retirement point. Partial hours don't accrue; aggregate to the next 8-hour boundary before filing. Signed by SOCOM ARE.

When to use

  • Completed approved coursework (ATRRS, JKO, ALMS)
  • Self-paced course finished, hours documented
  • You've aggregated to an 8-hour boundary
  • Required cyber-awareness / annual training online

When NOT to use

  • Less than 8 hours completed (no partial credit) §2-4b(5)
  • In-person training use RST
  • Reading, watching videos, or unapproved coursework
  • Same calendar day as paid IDT §2-4c

Rules at a glance

  • Credit only in 8-hour increments — partial hours don't count §2-4b(5)
  • One ATA (8 hours) = 1 retirement point
  • Subject to commander approval and unit cap
  • Cannot overlap a paid IDT day §2-4c
  • Block 11 signed by SOCOM ARE
