Medical Duty Readiness

Use MDR for a Periodic Health Assessment, dental, immunization, or other readiness appointment that keeps you deployable. One paid 4-hour period per appointment, limited to 2 MDR periods per anniversary (RYE) year. Signed by SOCOM ARE, not your unit.

When to use

  • Periodic Health Assessment (PHA)
  • Annual dental exam / Class 1 dental work
  • Required immunization
  • Audiogram or other readiness screening
  • Other appointments tied to deployability

When NOT to use

  • Optional / elective medical care
  • Care unrelated to readiness
  • More than 2 MDR periods in your RYE year
  • Same calendar day as paid IDT §2-4c

Rules at a glance

  • Maximum 2 MDR periods per RYE anniversary year
  • Each MDR is one 4-hour period (paid, P-1)
  • Cannot overlap another paid IDT day §2-4c
  • Block 11 signed by SOCOM ARE (not your unit O/WO)
