Reserve Management Activity

Use RMA for command, staff, or administrative duties that support unit readiness — pre-drill planning, training plan development, mission readiness reviews, and similar non-training work. One RMA per calendar day, four hours each, signed by your O/WO.

When to use

  • Pre-drill coordination and planning
  • Training plan development for an upcoming BA
  • Mission readiness review or after-action work
  • Unit administrative duties supporting readiness
  • Command or staff work outside scheduled IDT periods

When NOT to use

  • Make-up training for a missed BA use RST
  • Medical or dental readiness use MDR
  • Online coursework completion use EBDL
  • Same calendar day as another paid IDT period AR 140-185 §2-4c
  • Beyond 24 RMAs in a fiscal year AR 140-185 §2-4b(1)(a)

Rules at a glance

  • Maximum 24 RMAs per fiscal year AR 140-185 §2-4b(1)(a)
  • Maximum 1 RMA per calendar day
  • Each RMA is one 4-hour period (paid code P-1)
  • Cannot be credited the same day as another duty type §2-4c
  • Block 11 signed by your O/WO (unit officer or warrant officer)
