Glossary

- AY
- Anniversary Year — the soldier's 12-month period beginning on their RYE date.
- FY
- Fiscal Year — federal accounting year, 1 OCT through 30 SEP.
- IDT
- Inactive Duty Training — drill periods performed by Reserve Component soldiers.
- BA
- Battle Assembly — a soldier's scheduled monthly drill weekend (typically 4 periods).
- MUTA
- Multiple Unit Training Assembly — a BA composed of several IDT periods.
- UTA
- Unit Training Assembly — a single 4-hour IDT period.
- RST
- Rescheduled Training — make-up for a missed BA performed within 60 days.
- RMA
- Reserve Management Activity — command, staff, or administrative duty supporting unit readiness.
- MDR
- Medical Duty Readiness — periodic health assessment, dental, immunization.
- AT
- Annual Training — the soldier's two-week active duty period each year.
- ATA
- Additional Training Assembly — extra paid period beyond IDT, often used to credit 8-hour EBDL completion.
- EBDL
- Electronic-Based Distributed Learning — approved e-learning, 8 hours = 1 ATA.
- ARE
- Army Reserve Element — the SOCOM ARE that signs Block 11 on MDR/EBDL 1380s.
- TPU
- Troop Program Unit — the parent unit that pays and credits the soldier.
- RYE
- Retirement Year Ending date — the soldier's anniversary date for retirement point accounting.
